All Rhythm and No Blues

Emily Rappitt’s 30 year career traverses a journey from being a white-collar crime expert to being a passionate coach and mentor for professional women. At “Invest in Her’, Emily shared her profoundly personal narrative, “All Rhythm and No Blues: Let’s Change our Tune,” that focused on her tumultuous journey through perimenopause and menopause and the powerful learnings it offered her.

Much to the fascination of the audience, Emily used the metaphor of a drumbeat to articulate her journey. She stressed on how life rhythm needed to be in harmony with the monthly biological rhythm for women to optimize their lives and align their activities to dynamic energy flows. She elaborated how the steady rhythm of her life was disrupted during peri/ menopause and the feelings of chaos and uncertainty that she experienced.

Her self-reflection led her to embrace the changes within and find a new rhythm that allowed her to harness the transformative power of this life stage. By demonstrating her story through the medium of drumbeats, Emily captivated her audience and made them experience the vitality of hormonal rhythm.

The cessation of her menstrual cycle saw the rhythmic drumbeat stop as well – a high point that marked a new beginning.

This pause in rhythm led her to deep introspection and realization about the integral role her biological rhythm played in defining her essence and well-being.

Emily imparted three precious nuggets of wisdom to the audience:

  • To understand one’s hormones by becoming intimately acquainted with one’s monthly cycles, recognizing the signs of change, and the empowerment that comes with that knowledge.

  • To take the responsibility of documenting one’s menstrual cycles wherever you are and at whatever menstrual phase you are at.

  • To understand the need for biological rhythm and life rhythm to be in sync as they nourish the soul. It is important that women lean into this period of change, reframe challenges, and emerge enriched and empowered.

Emily’s journey, marked by disruption, introspection, and eventual harmony, serves as a profound reminder of the resilience and transformative potential inherent in every woman, encouraging all to “change their tune” and embrace the rhythm of change.
